I’ve never sat alone at a parade before. No one else at home wanted to go to the community parade, but I needed to get out of the house. And I had a blast. I heckled several of the floats–good-naturedly–and got several good-natured responses. I also made out like a bandit with the candy: no competition, and most of the candy givers felt sorry for me sitting alone. One preschooler riding a wagon in the parade got off his ride, walked over to me, and solemnly handed me a small container of playdough. I must have looked like I needed playdough, I guess. I was oddly touched by the gesture.
